Waikato Thoroughbred Racing Incorporated (WTR) recognises the importance of protecting personal information and is committed to preserving your privacy. This Privacy Policy reflects that commitment and our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 (the Act).
The Act sets out our obligations and your rights in relation to personal information. Personal information is information about an identifiable individual.

What information do we collect?
The personal information we collect may include your:
name;
contact details, including phone number and email address;
address;
membership details;
booking, ticketing and hospitality information; and
any other information you choose to provide to us.
Payments made online are processed securely through Stripe, a third-party payment provider. WTR does not directly store your full credit card details. Payment information collected and processed by Stripe is subject to Stripe's own privacy and security policies.
Who do we collect your personal information from?
You may provide personal information to us when you:
purchase tickets, hospitality or other products;
become or renew as a WTR member;
make an enquiry or booking;
enter a competition or promotion;
subscribe to our communications; or
otherwise interact with WTR, including through our website.
We may also collect personal information about you from third parties where you have authorised us to do so, where the information is publicly available, or where collection is otherwise permitted by law.
How do we use your personal information?
We may use your personal information:
to verify your identity;
to process bookings, memberships and ticket purchases;
to issue tickets or provide services to you;
to contact you, including about WTR racedays, events, membership, hospitality, news and promotions;
to respond to enquiries;
to administer competitions and promotions;
to improve our services and customer experience; and
for any other purpose authorised by you or permitted by law.
If you do not provide information that is required to process a booking, membership or purchase, we may be unable to provide that service to you.
Disclosing your personal information
In addition to WTR staff and service providers who require access to your information to carry out their roles, we may disclose your personal information to:
any person or authority where disclosure is authorised or required by law;
New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Incorporated where appropriate and permitted;
service providers that support our ticketing, payments, website, communications or events; or
any other person or organisation authorised by you.
We do not sell your personal information.
Protecting your personal information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Personal information may be stored by WTR or by trusted service providers acting on our behalf.
Once we no longer require your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, we will take reasonable steps to securely delete or destroy it, subject to any legal or business requirements to retain it.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you and to ask for it to be corrected if you believe it is inaccurate.
